I once had a boot virus on a computer with no virus software, I couldn't figure out what was going on, I kept losing drives in Windows, some drives would not show up.

With another computer I downloaded a dos version of a freeware virus cleaner off the web, created a bootdisk with the program on it and found it was indeed a virus, then proceeded to clean it. I can't remember exactly how I did it, that was my first encounter with a virus 3 years ago.

And I traced the virus back to a disk a company gave me that did some graphics work for me. I didn't bother calling them, I doubt if they did it on purpose, and I doubt that they would have believed that it came from them.

Never ever had a virus off of the web or a bbs, and I download LOTS of programs.
