That's one of the reasons I said something. They were talking about the split all day on TV and it didn't help the stock.

Quite a surprise. One of the last bastions for the momentum players has been stocks doing splits. Keep in mind that action has only been going on for a few years. Prior to that people were aware that a split gave you twice as many shares at half the price and that worked out to 1/1 no matter how you sliced and diced it.

Now they've got studies that show how terrific "split" stocks perform. I bet their studies only go back a couple of years at most. Before that the studies showed only a modest positive, not big enough to make money at.

Maybe their will still be some upside before the "when issued" date but it is a worrisome note. A couple of other bellweathers look weak also, but I haven't seen any with as clear a breakdown as CPQ.
