Hi Essam. I have a question regarding short selling on Cdn exchanges. I thought I would post it here because you have a knowledgable group of followers.

First let me say I have never shorted a stock but have recently started applying some basic rules to identify short canidates. On paper, since the begining of May I have done very well (on paper). I am tempted to start short selling the occasional stock but have encountered the following problem:

I trade through Action Direct discount broker. They only allow me to short sell TSE/MSE stocks on Cdn exchanges, and only those over 3.00. The margin requirement is 150% which I believe is standard.

Where/ how can I short sell VSE and ASE listed stocks, and those below 3.00? Any comments and info is appreciated.

IMO, shortsellers get blamed for too much of the falling prices after promoters dump their shares. It is a part of the business and the more the average investor understands the game the better.
