I meant it as you just said it. That AAPL investing in it's own stock increases the value of it's currency for whenever (hopefully higher). But consider the part where you point out that AAPL's currency will result in 20-25% overpay due to the depressed price of the stock. The amount of Cash a seller will accept from AAPL has to be viewed through the prism of how much capital gains tax will have to be paid on the sale.

Yes, from our perspective, the price is depressed. But at any point in time, the stock is 20%+ more valuable to a seller than cash.

(( and think of buys where a single large owner holds a controlling interest. the tax bill comes front and center.)

But yes, I agree, we're on the same page in all respects. AAPL is undervalued now any way you look at it.
