Some interesting talk about the Star Tribune sale locally. Seems it was bought by two investment bankers from New Jersey with no experience in the newspaper business. Probably besides the fire sale price they are interested in the two square blocks of downtown Minneapolis and other valuable real estate the paper owns.

The first thing I'd do if I were them is fire the editorial board, and don't hire a new one. THe newspaper editorial is a total anachronism. Who buys a paper to find out what an anonymous bunch of dingbats think about the issues of the day? Plus it so offends 1/4 to 1/2 of their potential customers they avoid the product like a plague. Opinions come blasting at us from every direction. A newspaper without one would be a refreshing innovation.
