You have to read the WaPo article for 8 (EIGHT) paragraphs to get to the real words and careful meaning former President Ford said:

Describing his own preferred policy toward Saddam Hussein's Iraq, Ford said he would not have gone to war, based on the publicly available information at the time, and would have worked harder to find an alternative. "I don't think, if I had been president, on the basis of the facts as I saw them publicly," he said, "I don't think I would have ordered the Iraq war. I would have maximized our effort through sanctions, through restrictions, whatever, to find another answer."

ALL Presidents know that they know things the rest of the world doesn't need to know at the time.

Former President Ford didn't have privy to inside "eyes-only" intel on this one....

With our present MSM, maybe Presidents don't have to worry as much about that. The MSM won't tell anything that the President needs everyone, including US citizens, to know, and the MSM relys on leaks from opposition to tell the world what they don't need to know.

We used to call that treasonous. Now we call it the NYT.
