No, actually a hanging carried out properly snaps the victims neck and death is immediate. However, there have been many instances of improper hangings where the victim actually slowly strangled to death. Be interesting to see how it turns out in Iraq. Saddam was so brutal I can imagin a lot of people would like his death to be slow and painful. I just want to get it over with ASAP and move on. jdn
