Mr. Srini Raghavan: The opinions I post on this thread are my own and not that of my employer. Sorry you took my post as a personal quest. You wish to speak facts, here's a few:

1. I have worked with the Red Brick DW database. So my opinions are from first hand experience.

2. Red Brick is very expensive and very costly from a maintenance and support stand point. Requires multiple DBAs to keep the thing running at optimum response time rates. The larger the DW the more DBA time required.

3. Red Brick is losing market share. Their DW sales have slowed while their competetion's has gained. Reb Brick has announced new technologies, but where are the new sales PR. There havn't been any in a while. Technologies don't make the stock go up, sales and revenue do.

4. Sybase (only because I know this first hand) has been winning customers over Red Brick ever time their Sybase IQ DW database is the competition. I am sure that Oracle and the other vendors hav had wins as well.

5. Red Brick has been having turnover in their management and sales force. Perhaps these cahnages may be for the better down the road.

6. When Red Brick's stock stumbled it was because a venture capitalist(s) dropped there stock. If the VCs thought this was simply a one quarter stumble, wouldn't they have kept their stock or even bought more.

7. I am not anti-Red Brick. Until Red Brick makes changes that increase the bottom line, I don't see them as a good investment. I am just pointing out that there are issues with Red Brick and the industry that are having an impact. I was very close to buying stock right before they started to fall. It was between REDB and ORCL, I chose Oracle and got lucky, at least so far.

8. Will Red Bick stock get back into the 20's? Probably and personally don't feel it will in the near term. I think there are better investments in the market at this time.

Sorry if this post offends anyone. After being flamed by Mr. Raghavan I had to respond and clarify my opnions. If this post seem negative it's because there hasn't been much positive from the revenue side about Red Brick lately.
