Hey jp.

I checked back into this thread for the first time in about 3ish years, and I'm glad to see some moving stuff still goin' on. It's nice to be affected by reading something every once in a while.

How've you been jp? Are things going well?

'Course my poetic muse hasn't been around me in a long time. Actually, I think my poetic muse probably took up residence in a nice beachfront shack months and months ago. Years even. I've been managing with a Dense-Yet-Disconnected Rant muse for a while now. Picked that one up from philosophy courses. Hopefully I can get them both to play nice together. My musical muse is quite active now, but she plays very nicely with others. (What can I say? I'm a bass player)

Here's one aforementioned meaningful/meaningless rant. Can't
say I think much of it, but it might contain some kernel of
truth, or some slightly fresh perspective... Maybe on
something like raising tropical fish or making a super garlic-rye bread at home. That'd be nice.

Notta Poem #1 by Tom Kiesel

Freedom's funny.
It lets your river branch
into many little streams all the time.

Most things(beings?) don't have that.
Often we make too much of the opportunity...
pursue it too ferociously and desperately.

Spending time just being
(and spending it quite carelessly too)
might be the thing to do.

Just drifting down your stream
heedless of which fork in the road
you happen to take.

Dangerous and irresponsible?
Maybe.
It just depends.

Is it possible to be totally unconcerned
with your path down the river while
still being acutely aware of it?

I think so, but doing nothing at all
about which way I float will surely
lead me to a fatal waterfall, won't it?

So how do I act if I'm unconcerned?
If I don't care which way I go, why would
I keep myself from a fatal path at all?

Maybe all rivers lead to the same basin.
I care that I reach my destination but I am resolved to be more aware of the journey I'm taking than which way that
journey should lead Right Now.

Right Now is heading toward but never meets Soon
and poor Now will be Way Back When nevermore.
