SOME PLAGIARISTS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS

Why exactly is it OK for Doris Kearns Goodwin to win a $50,000 prize from the New-York Historical Society for her book on Lincoln when she was unmasked as a plagiarist in the Weekly Standard three years ago -- and used the outrageous excuse offered by plagiarists near and far that she didn't know her own writing from the notes she took while doing "research"? Yes, her book is a huge bestseller. Yes, she likes baseball. Yes, she seems very genial on television. But she's still a p-l-a-g-i-a-r-i-s-t. (Hat tip: Mickey Kaus.)
