StrataGold intersects 2.99 g/t gold over 58.50 metres at Tassawini, Guyana
VANCOUVER, July 19 - StrataGold Corporation TSX/SGV is pleased to report results for twenty-six (26) diamond drill holes (DDH's), SD081 to SD107(xx), from the 2006 exploration program at Tassawini, Guyana. The latest gold intersections were obtained from DDH's completed along the northeastern extension of Tassawini West, Black Ridge and Tassawini East.
At this time, assays are pending for an additional fifty-six (56) diamond drill holes (SD098, SD108 to SD163 inclusive) with drilling on-going with the use of two diamond drill rigs and one reverse circulation rig. All of these zones are being tested at depth and along strike.
A total of 12,437.7 metres of diamond drilling in eighty-two (82) DDH's has been completed since February 2006 at the four main zones discovered to date at Tassawini. A fourth drill will be mobilized to Tassawini within the next month in order to accelerate the project.
The total cumulative strike length defined to date includes Tassawini West (450 metres), Black Ridge (400 metres), Tassawini East (350 metres), and Tassawini South (200 metres) totals 1,400 metres.
Tassawini West
Fifteen (15) DDH's have tested the northeastern extension of Tassawini West, as well as a fence of deeper holes have been completed.
Highlights
include several broad zones of high-grade gold mineralization at shallow depth in saprolite. SD102 intersected 2.99 g/t gold over 58.50 metres, including 9.14 g/t gold over 12.59 meters. High grade intervals occur within the central portions of many of these drill holes, including SD086 which intersected 13.15 g/t gold over 4.00 metres and SD103 which intersected 2.39 g/t gold over 57.00 metres, including 6.49 g/t over 16.50 metres in saprolite. The average true width of Tassawini West mineralization is 40 metres. The latest drill results confirmed that the structural control for gold mineralization at Tassawini West occurs within the hinge zone of an open, slightly overturned northeast trending anticline that plunges gently to the southwest at 15 degrees. The highest grade gold mineralization occurs within the central hinge zone of the anticline. Gold mineralization also occurs on two sub-parallel northwest dipping limbs and is open along strike to the southwest and at depth. |
