Hitchens isn't making his own points but rather debunking some of Moore's. To the extent that Hitchens is all over the map it is largely due to Moore being all over the map.

Secondly, to believe his conclusion that Moore has lied in his film requires a huge leap of faith in the author; that the reporting of his alleged conversations with Moore are honest and accurate, and that his quoting of the 'facts' is correct.

I have a lot more confidence in Hitchens, or just about anyone (including many liberals) then I do in Moore. Moore has a amazing history of making spectacular but poorly supported and often inaccurate statements.

Thirdly, some of his comments are just outright, rightwing BS. I don't know of any liberal who envies Rush or any of the other stars of the right.

Few liberals like or admire Rush but there has been a big effort to get "a liberal Rush", someone with the same sort of impact who support liberal causes.

Furthermore, I have seen the clip of Bush on the golf course and I don't care who had been in that clip, it would have been offensive.

What specifically do you find offensive and why?

Fourthly, its becoming increasingly clear that the potential for civil war in this country is growing.

It might be but something that is so small as to be insignificant can have tremendous growth and still be insignificant.
