Bomb rips apart bus in Istanbul (Filed: 24/06/2004) At least four people have been killed and seven injured in an explosion that ripped apart a bus in Istanbul. The explosion comes days ahead of a Nato summit there to be attended by world leaders including US President George W Bush. The bomb went off as the bus passed a hospital in the Fatih district on the European side of the city Earlier in the day, a small parcel bomb had exploded outside the Hilton Hotel in the capital, Ankara, where President Bush is due to stay. It had prompted the Turkish government to issue a statement in which it described the country as "sufficiently strong and secure".
