Apparently good honest politicians are a dying breed. As you wrote, there are no decent candidates for President. Having stated that all of the Republican candidates are better than any of the democrat ones. I would make a great dictator. After I eliminated 95% of the federal budget I would restore the Republic and give the country another fifty to one hundred years life expectancy. "There is a serious lack of reality out there" Agreed. People want free goods. Nobody wants to pay for them. These are not realistic long term possibilities.
