Micron Scales Up HBM to Four Major GPU/ASIC Clients; Targets 24% Market Share by Year-End

Please note that this article cites information from ZDNet, Reuters , Bloomberg and Micron.

Fueled by a nearly 50% surge in HBM sales in the third quarter of fiscal 2025, Micron posted record revenue and is now eyeing another milestone. According to ZDNet, the U.S. memory giant aims to increase its HBM market share to 23–24% by the end of 2025.

Notably, Micron said in its press release that it is now shipping high-volume HBM to four customers across both GPU and ASIC platforms. The company, therefore, projects its HBM market share will reach parity with its overall DRAM share by the second half of 2025.

As Reuters reported, Micron’s strong results reflect surging demand for AI chips from companies like NVIDIA and AMD. The U.S. memory giant is already supplying its HBM3E 12-high solution for AMD’s MI350 and NVIDIA’s Blackwell platforms.

According to Micron, its HBM3E 12-high yield and production ramp are progressing smoothly, with shipment crossover expected in fiscal Q4.

Micron also reaffirmed its HBM4 roadmap, noting that it has already shipped samples to multiple customers and plans to begin volume production in 2026, in sync with customer timelines.

Projects Record-High Q4 Sales Above $10B

The company expects fourth-quarter revenue to hit $10.7 billion, marking a new all-time high, according to its press releaseearlier today.

Micron’s third-quarter results also beat expectations, with revenue reaching $9.3 billion (vs. $8.87 billion forecast) and adjusted earnings per share coming in at $1.91, topping the expected $1.60, Reuters suggests.

Micron’s Chief Business Officer Sumit Sadana told Reuters that tariff-driven customer pull-ins in Q3 were “fairly modest” — nothing to lose sleep over. He added that demand looks strong for the rest of the year, according to Reuters.

Beyond chasing booming AI revenue, Micron is also eyeing growth in other hot markets like electric vehicles and gaming chips, according to Bloomberg.

As per TrendForce, Micron secured the third spot in DRAM revenue for Q1 2025, capturing 24.3% of the market—trailing behind SK hynix at 36.0% and Samsung at 33.7%.
