Authoritarianism is emotional.
I noticed one is more concerned with what label he gives himself, and another about offense that might be given to politicians, than investigating facts that might not be consistent.
One of the things that will occur more and more as the economy goes down the tubes are people emotionally defending their income with dogma of various kinds, as if that will help.
I.e., those with gov't pensions, contracts, or current jobs, will tend to adopt the policies of "the gov't" and whatever leadership seems prevalent. That's maybe 5-10 million, not including Soc Sec. That puts blinders on against any disagreeable information. This is the result of increasingly huge and all-powerful central gov't, that it is self-reinforcing, making more and more people demand more and more fealty and taxes from the rest of us, and debt from the treasury from the future.
These hollow political arguments are obviously contradictory, and only serve the purpose of justifying the income people get.
That's one more reason the Bush administration wanted the 1 million-job patronage legislation in the Homeland bill... this gives more political and psychological control over this group, their dependents and friends.
The only solution will eventually be tax revolt, once the level of accountability rises to the point where most Americans can see how much of America's future prosperity has been looted by these actions, and foreign adventures.
Then, when they see how prosperous Bush & cronies have become as a result, they'll want to hold a lynching party.
"Impeach George W. Bush" is an entirely appropriate thread title, and much more civilized... |
