I am very confident that the there is a positive correlation between political affiliation of parents and their children

Well, lots of people are "very confident" that they have been scooped up from their beds in the night by aliens, but we don't necessarily share that confidence because they have no proof. Being "very confident" means zip unless you can back it up with scientific studies.

Besides, 0.01 is also a "positive correlation", but as anyone who has taken an hour of Statistics 101 can tell you, it is quite meaningless meaningless.

If you would like to prove that children of republicans ALWAYS turn out to vote republican, and vice versa, be my guest. Don't forget to look into what happens when one parent is republican and the other is democrat - as it can and does happen. Which seems to be the dominant trait there?

you seem to be very selective in your reporting of Dem / Rep voting

I have just done a Google search on presidential elections and presented the data. I realize you guys elect various other representatives with party affiliations, but this seemed the simplest. If in fact there were a decrease in the democratic voter base, it should show in presidential elections as well. It does not.
