Well, why not, writing application programs for Linux. It is a perfect idea. People like window not because they like Window OS, but because there are so many application programs be available under the window environment . One copy of win98 sold for $49, but the office 2k sold for $500. So, if Microsoft wrote application programs for Linux, it will make more money . By having Microsoft office 2k be available for Linux, people will use Linux , not because of Linux OS, but the availability of the application programs. Then , Microsoft will be in a better position to control Linux, you must follow my standard of the application programs,
or my programs can't be run on your OS. Microsoft should not only write application programs for Linux, but also the OS from other competitors, but all in all, window will still be the major player in OS in the years to come. To write application programs for other OS will just increase the revenues and profit for Microsoft, not a bad idea.
