Totalitarian propaganda is mainly nationalistic, one-party rule, scapegoating, with us or against us, character assassination, propaganda spin-minister at top tells everyone else what to say, leader as demi-God, criticizing demi-God is heresy, if you criticize us you're crazy, or evil, or a foreign sympathizer, a foreign devil, a subversive, a degenerate, if you criticize us we will destroy you, elections for show only, elections stolen through various means, critics blamed for appeasing the enemy, being spies, subhumans, anti-country anti-patriot, the party = the country, critics ought to be locked up, need re-education, could be seized and imprisoned as enemy sympathizer, take control of the press overtly of covertly, intimidation of the press and free speech. etc.
All these methods were used by the Bushies in 2002-2003. I suppose they felt 9-11 gave them carte blanche to act like wannabe Nazis. But it was wrong and anti-American, as much as they like to dole out the hogwash that Bush = America. Bush doesn't = America. In fact sometimes, he seems like the president of Exxon not the USA. |
