I'm interested in a soldier's reaction to this: It is interesting how a tear or an emotion can evoke a wide variety of thoughts about the individual who displays the emotion. I recall when clinton teared up a couple times, many of us questioned if he was merely "doing a photo op". We will never know. One thing clear to me is that GWB carries a far bigger burden as CIC than WJC ever did. While I have been disappointed with some of GWB's decisions, I believe he has a good heart, especially when it comes to the troops. If the NYT, WAPO and LAT showed at least a modicum of honest concern for our military and their work, a tear in the eye of our president wouldn't even be something to wonder about.
