McCarthy was an American fascist, anti working peoples rights, anti civil rights, anti freedom of speech, anti voting rights, anti anyone who questioned the lies of the Cold War, any anyone who wanted to talk to anyone in the Soviet Union. McCarthy helped construct the Cold War wall between societies and helped demonize them and accelerate the enormous wasteful expenditures and risk of the Cold War.

Thirty years later we started talking to the Soviets and found that they weren't that different from us. They too had their McCarthys, their fascists who used fear-mongering and demonization of the US to cow its people into not asking questions and obeying like automatons. The entire COld War was built by the two fascist military power structures within the US and USSR both, and neither one was any less insane or greedy.

This is another reason the rightwing murdered Kennedy, because he would have ended the Cold War. With strength but determination. Instead, it kept going for another 25 years until the Soviet people themselves, with a lot of pressure from the outside, insisted on an more open society and got it.

McCarthy was anti communist in the worst and most dishonest of ways. He misused the term "communist" to brand ANYONE who disagreed with the rightwing military-industrial Cold War status quo, including anyone who sang a folk song about peace. McCarthy was a traitor. He was actually more dangerous to ourn society than any communists ever were.
