To All:Asian Update (20:50 ET) With the Hang Seng set to open in about 10 minutes, declines in other Asian markets are bad but not disastrous. The Nikkei is down 554 points (where have we heard that number before?), but that's a relatively mild 3.3% decline. Other Asian markets are not faring as well as Japan; Australia -9.6%, Malaysia -5.6%, New Zealand -11.2%, Singapore -6.6%, South Korea -5.5%, and Taiwan -4.9%. Though some nightmare stories are circulating about Hong Kong, the HK$ has actually strengthened and HK rates are a bit lower this morning. We'll see....
