Import-tariffs on Canadian aluminum have cost tens of thousands of jobs in the US auto industry and in other US industries hurt by higher aluminum prices.

Trump's aimless aluminum import-tariffs added fewer than 1,500 jobs at US aluminum smelters. US smelters previously employed fewer than 2,200.

Why are these 1,495 jobs more important than tens of thousands of Americans who lost their jobs due to Trump's aluminum import tariffs on Canadian aluminum ?
