It's one thing to have an affair 30 years ago as Hyde did.

It's another thing totally to do it one floor down from where your wife is sleeping then to walk into a deposition, swear an oath to tell the truth (this wholly aside from the oath of office he took to uphold the law of the land) and to tell a bald faced lie about it. I don't recall any allegation that Henry Hyde did that. Do you???

Then, when it becomes an issue, Clinton sics his PR machine on it, raises numerous frivolous defenses such as executive privilege (thus weakening the privilege for future presidents) and only when he is caught red handed and backed into a corner does he come clean.

I'd say this a slight bit different from Henry Hyde having an affair 30 years ago with a woman who had separated from her husband. Don't forget, Hyde's wife was told about the affair and they lived together until she died several years agbo.

This is not about sex. It's about lying, witness tampering and obstruction of justice. Vastly different from having an affair some 30 years ago, IMHO.

But then, WDIK?

ps - as far as I'm concerned, Clinton may as well serve out his term. He's ensured that his legacy is well established. Wow! To be known as the first president to testify before a grand jury as its target. I just feel sorry for Chelsea. She didn't ask for this. Hillary, in her own way, did.
