Also, please pass on to Alan's mother than Alan needs to begin immediately to take at least 100 (mcg or mg, whatever they come in)
of Glucose Tolerance Formula (GTF) chromium supplements. If she doesn't have an ethical doctor, he will tell her that's not necessary. Just ask her to demand that her either agree that Alan needs Chromium, or to give her verified clinical diabetes study reports that he doesn't. Chromium deficiency is the doorknob to diabetes. It is now almost totally proven, and totally ignored by the mega-zillion dollar diabetes industry.
