engineer,

<< yea, I am sure. Sony Ericsson is NOT Ericsson. It is a totally different subsidiary of both companies. It is part of the "other". >>

I'm sorry but I beg to differ.

As Caxton's post to me of the Reuters article titled "Samsung outranks Sony Ericsson in cellphones" correctly noted "Ericsson and Sony merged their mobile phone operations into a 50-50 joint venture, which began operations on October 1"

It is entirely possible, since we don't have the complete Strategy Analytics report, only second hand stuff from WSJ & Reuters abstracted from of all places, Dagens Industri, that in Strategy Analytics report they may have not added Sony's pre October sales into the Sony Ericsson mix, while it looks like Micrologic Research (who Qualcomm frequently sources numbers from), did.

Now if you would like to rely on Strategy Analytics as the authoritative source of handset shipments (actual or forecasted), have it .

Me ... I'll wait to see Gartner Dataquest's and ARC Group numbers, thank you, both of which are held in much higher regard in the industry (on handsets) than Strategy Analytics and historically both have been much more accurate forecasting forward than either Strategy Analytics, Micrologic, or especially Dagens Industri.

BTW: If you are running ME you will handle memory better and eliminate memory resource problems by removing 3/4ths of that 1 GB RAM which ME can't handle properly, and of course by moving to XP you can make considerably better use of RAM (it'll handle as much as you can throw at it) and get rid of those 3 nasty resource hogging DOS HEAPS at the same time.

Best,

- Eric -
