Re <<China's Semiconductor Industry 'Decapitated Overnight': What 'Annihilation Looks Like'>>
btw, am told an issue is developing / enveloping, because ...
(1) otoh the actual uses of 14 nanometer and under chips are small
(2) otoh, the uses of 14 nanometer and over chips are huge
(3) but to complete a finished product, one actually needs both, and if not both, then at least the 14 nanometer and over chips, else industry stops
(4) for example, take the F35 scmp.com

(5) and, as in but-but-but-w/-a-stutter, Team China is an enormous user / exporter of the so-called low-end chips en.wikipedia.org

(6) IOW, CHIP war outcome should be quite clear should China engage in such immediately, stopping industries just as cessation of Russian gas would / could / shall, and the paltry 50+billion of the CHIPs Act would be hard-pressed to energise 'low-end' chips friend-shoring / re-shoring, as no private business would / should / could invest in such unless USA dictates other domains not only to stop supplying China chip manufacturing equipment but to stop importing China chips.
(7) In the meantime, advisably, should you reckon to buy a big screen TV or a car, or one of those washing machines so prized by the Russian invaders of Ukraine, best buy whilst the buying is still pre-inflation, for whilst chips are printed like money, they take a bit more fortitude for work than printing money.
Even the lowly capacitors, resistors, and diodes are 'important' to a finished product.
Just mathematics, that which the bipartisan crowds find difficult to fathom.
Time to stock up, like petroleum, diesel, gasoline, grains, and inventory of munitions, and stop supplying same to any domain at the far flung edge of the centre.
Let us watch. |
