According to traders in Hong Kong, they are severely disheartened by the
US market fall today, and expect a "carnage" of perhaps -1000 points
loss (about 10%) today.

At the time of this post, Hong Kong is down 1473.49. It is much worse than they anticipated. That translates to another 14.04%.
