Its not just things that have been known before, in my opinion. There are some little comforting details which have allayed some fears, ie., that the decrease in cap equipment growth has not hurt the business, but more subtle, and important undertones that came through on the call as well. (1) the Company is combining the reporting of telecom and datacom. This makes a strong statement that the company will participate in the convergence of voice and data, which will be one of the next great things. (2) Comment on tested switch density, moving from 150 mb to 2.5 gb throughput per switch port (increase of a factor of 16)is unbeleivable, and is a testament to the mega bandwidth made possible by GA. NGI requires that kind of performance, and VTSS is letting the world know that they will be a major player in the infrastructure buildout of NGI. We have all known this in broad outline before, but little things, like those egs mentioned above, signals that VTSS's ability to contribute to the bandwidth explosion may be just beginning, not maturing, as I think some have feared. To my way of thinking, the announcement of the new switch port capacity, may turn out in a few years time to have been the most significant item on the call. |
