Reddy,

The Wavetop FAQ at their website ( wavephore.com ) explains that set-top boxes and cable systems can figure into their broadcasting method, so I was wrong in not understanding that, but I think Wavephore's main thrust has been on the wireless method.

I thought about the Iridium project and in the back of my mind I think Wavephore's got some involvement.

Back to your comment, <All though it would be possible to download specifically requested files to individual subscribers, the bandwidth that supports the push service is used by EVERYONE. >, you are absolutely correct; that's what got DirectPC in trouble - too much popularity and not enough bandwidth off the satellite. On the other hand, Wavephore states that up to 160M of files can be received wirelessly each day per receiver. I suspect that's theoretical, but it was a lot higher than I expected. If even 80M was typical, that would be fantastic.

I'm going over to CompUSA and get a tuner card this weekend because I've got to understand what I'm investing in and they're pretty cheap. Does anyone have a preferred brand or one I should steer clear of?

Thanks,
Dave
