Hope springeth eternal.

That is why we keep working as individuals as you have done to make a difference in others lives.

I often wonder about the young black students that I taught in SMSG Math years ago---------one young man had just moved to Alexandria, Va. He never bathed when he came to school---could hardly speak English.

Making myself available to work with students who needed extra help after school---------I learned his story. This young man wasn't prepared for city life and he was sad for having left North Carolina.

I didn't teach him much math but by the end of the year with the Dean's assistance we got him cleaned up-------with clothes that my brother had outgrown.

When he came to class looking and smelling fresh he was carrying himself differently and smiling . He never knew the source of the clothes and that his teacher was involved in helping him have clothes.

To this day I don't know how that Dean achieved getting him cleaned up------he may have taken him to the shower personally.

So ask me to apologize for slavery that didn't happen on my call--------no way.
