My personal crystal ball (I got it at Pic N' Save, so it's not always right ...) says that DBS will be the future. The primary reason being that with no monopoly, consumers pick the provider they want and get their equipment. You don't have to be subjected to what the cable provider in your area chooses for its system, you can go down to the local electronics store, compare the offerings, and get what you want. It makes it awfully competitive, unlike cable companies that have little incentive to offer a large variety of non-premium channels. ALthough the satellite costs are enormous, the DBS company doesn't have to outlay millions on infrastructure for cables. Maybe I'm just biased because I have come to hate cable companies over the years, but I'm bullish on DBS and Divicom.
