As far as I know the way to do this is for one of you to issue a 1099 or the appropriate form to the other. In my opinion, to be safe, you should just pay a CPA or tax accountant for an hour of time to get the right advice. They will explain the nuances, you will have it right and not have to worry about the IRS. Regards
