This statement from Nokia contradicts my real experience fo this ongoing display fault.

"The faulty component affects a small proportion of Nokia models produced between
October 2001 - January 2002."

No. I purchased an 8850 in September 2000. In February 2001 the display fault
occurred. It April 2001 it went for repair (took 5 weeks). It failed again in Octobver
2001. After ringing for 2 weeks I was given a replacement 8850, the dispaly failed on
that in October 2001.

So, I had a display failure for a THIRD time in one year. I called Nokia and was told -
we can not help you and will not offer a repair or replacement - you will have to pay for
it yourself - the phone is over a year old. (well 12 months and 2 weeks...)

"So far Nokia phones with failing displays have mainly been found in Scandinavia,
Germany, Australia, and the U.S. Phones with problems related to the failing display
component will be repaired free of charge as a standard warranty procedure."

No. Nokia UK placed a notice about the 8210 on their www.nokia.co.uk website in mid
2001 about the display fault. I live in Ireland and have several friends who have had the
same display fault on 8850s and 8210s.

"The problem can be corrected by replacing the display."

Well I've been through 3 displays and the same fault occurred each time. So much for
purchasing their 8850 flagship model.

Regards,
Brian
