Henry, I appreciate your input to this thread. As far as I know, Jesse Essinger is a staff reporter, not a physician. It is interesting to me how a nonphysician interprets experimental/clinical medicine when they have no medical training whatsoever. For example, reference is made to "patients fail to take their medication, or resistance is developed, or when doctors don't prescribe correctly." In clinical trials, as you know, the patients are given the meds. Clinically, few patients can afford them (many, if not most, are "uninsured"). HIV/AIDS patients are very cooperative in taking meds and the doctors certainly know how to prescribe correctly.
