yes, we withdrew until the attacker was surrounded on all sides, not between a rock and hard place, but, for example, a swamp and a lake. (frozen lakes were just as good, as long as it had been pre-planned, but a swamp is always a swamp, even with a lot of snow)
Then it unfortunately got really bloody and gory, although cold temperatures kept the flies away until the next summer.
However, those who survived are now meeting once again to bless their fortune of surviving and especially those who did not, sorting out some DNA and tooth stuff (good skills now used in both frmr Yugoslavia as well as Iraq) and setting up some final lists and little stones here and there, everywhere. (however, I think my back and front yard was cleared up long time ago)
But it will still be interesting to see how those-then premature decision on who would do if things would turn out this-or-that and what will turn out as more information is gathered.
Not to forget the threath of a really local guerilla war, sudden death on dark roads, deep snow and in the middle of forests, swamps and anything any bright bunch of young guys can figure out if enough of ammunition and explosives.
Luckily Stalin understood that.

PS For Albert, even some funny Russian-Israelis have participated, luckily smarter than Albert. |
