Dang! You've got to learn how to laugh from time to time

I love to laugh, but cracking a joke and avoiding the question is a typical liberal trait <g>

At least I respond...some members of the GOP disappear when you ask them a question.

According to the 2000 election results, the GOP was a minority and I think it still is. If Nader hadn't taken away votes from Gore, we would have been spared 4 years of Mr. Bush. He won on a fluke and we have to correct the error.

Once again, I'm referring to majorities in congress, not the nation as a whole. Do you dispute the Republicans are the majority in the house and senate?

No, I don't disagree.

Back to the original point, it's dumb for her to blame republicans for the "litmus test" on nominees, as it was the dems that started using them.

Frankly, I knew of no litmus test until the woman mentioned it. However, abortion certainly has created a divide between the GOP and many Americans esp. women. I think that's much less true re. gay marriage.

I do believe the GOP is losing the hearts and mind of its more moderate members who simply won't vote in November. I think the GOP took the 2000 and 2002 elections as a sign that conservative values are acceptable to most of the country. I could be wrong but I think that was a big mistake. I believe Bush won the 2000 election on a fluke and the GOP wins of the 2002 election was in response to a unique kind of patriotism resulting from 9/11 that now is all but gone.

In the meantime a lot of liberals are p*ssed and starting to fight back hard. Its good........the GOP's hard push to the right has made liberals wake up and re evaluate their position. I am an example........I was very apolitical prior to 2000, always called myself an independent and never gave money to a political party. That's all changed now.

So as far as the concept of a litmus test, I never knew one existed but now that I do, it makes sense.
