Athelon 1.333 from components:
All the parts got here by last Friday except for the new case, which came yesterday. Started putting it all together late last night and finished and had Win2K installed by 2 AM. Everything went flawlessly, and Win2K installed very quickly. Good for those frequent re-installs. I must say, I got very good service from all vendors; two to four days except for the cases. And since they are expensive to ship, I went ground and expected the delay. (I was going to use the power supply from an existing case, but got caught up in other things.)

I've since gone back and looked at some ratings on the vendors I used:

resellerratings.com
resellerratings.com
resellerratings.com
resellerratings.com

The ratings are not very good, but they do not reflect my experience. However, I try to order name brand items where I know the manufacturers will back their product (even if it takes a while) if the distributor doesn't and I use a credit card so that I can have them force a refund if necessary. I also have never had a DOA from the manufacturers whose brands I bought except for IBM, and IBM has always been exceptional at replacing defective products. (I've had a couple of bad drives from them, but they're so quick that I call them first instead of the distributor.) If I were buying no-name modem, sound card, motherboard, video, etc. I would use distributors with higher ratings. (I learned long ago that buying those no-name things cost a lot more in time to get them working properly than the upfront savings in purchase price.)
