I am not in Corel at the moment, although I have been 3 or 4 times over the last several years--pretty much breaking even on the deal.

I am AMAZED at the optimism that continues to prevail on this thread!
How is one to understand today's BULLSHIT announcement? Well, here is
how I interpret it:

"Previously, folks we have stuffed the distribution channel with
merchandise and done just about anything to get the sales up to a
level that would look like we were doing OK--but now we are just about
at the end of the line on that gambit, because those Receivables are
not coming in--never will in fact! So now we are going to suggest
that we have moved our accounting South and now encounter strange
new rules that require us to discount our sales by about 50%. So
we are going to take a huge one time loss--but don't worry about it--
great things lie ahead!"

Folks, I am a Canadian living in the US, but I have to say that
the True North Strong and Free is not without its share of
"feather merchants"--witness Dr Coupland himself!

I hope that Corel turns around, but I see NO signs of that in this
announcement.

In my view there are hundreds, maybe thousands of better places to
put money than Corel right now. I get pretty nervous when I think
the management is playing it fast and loose.
