soup,

>This story sounds like there's nobody hanging around Ellison who's strong enough to tell him when to shut up.

Who tells a guy with $6 billion to shut up?

If Ellison buys a controlling interest, he won't pay
retail, I think he has figured out how to do it using
the stockholders. Guys with $6 billion know lots of things
we don't. They know talent, they know inside stories, they
know human nature. This guy didn't just let this story slip,
there is a game being played for huge amounts of money. He
has played a card, and now obviously has the luxury to sit
back, see what happens, and then decide.

As a former recruiter (business programmers) my perception
of Oracle was of an extremely tight ship. All business. White
on White shirts.

This is interesting.
