Geeze, did not even hold out an entire week.
However...
I think I am returning in the correct frame of mind, more disciplined, and with a more refined set of rules for playing this game. I'd encourage folks to take a week off, double the amount of DD you do on your favorite stocks, share only half of what you find out, post half as often, saving much of what you know for yourself. SI is a great place to banter, that part of the addiction is fine. But it is no substitute for all the things one should be doing when researching stocks, or looking for good trades.
Hehee, just saw Neenny's post #13, if I'd known I was being watched I'd have tried to hold out a bit longer <g>.
In post #17 Mark said: people have not learned the way to use the message boards so they burn out fast or just get depressed.
There is probably some truth to that--in fact, I think the best use of SI is to peoplemark a few folks, and do periodic keyword searches on the topics in which you're most interested. I've not found SI, or the net in general, to be a very healthy way for folks to interact. It is probably tough because you cannot see folks reactions to what you say. Anybody ever try mIRC? Useless, imho. Recently I even tried a listserve-- a good idea, but I didn't care for my mailbox being clogged up.
There are some answers out there, some dot com will execute a set of better solutions. Give this another decade or so--online communities will be much more refined in 2010. |
