Walk in her shoes...
About this Activity
In this activity you "walk in the shoes" of Elizabeth, a woman seeking an abortion in New York City in 1955. Elizabeth's situation
includes decisions and problems faced by women who sought abortions before the Supreme Court issued its 1973 Roe v. Wade
decision. As you go through the activity, think about what in 1955 New York made abortions unsafe or difficult to get. And think about
how the process of getting an abortion in 1955 New York affected a woman's dignity, privacy, and ability to make personal health
decisions. (Please note that this situation is fictional, and the resemblance of this situation to any woman's entire experience is
coincidental.)
