The problem is this: there are only two choices as we all know the consequences of protest votes. Besides, who is the third alternative, Nader? He's become wealthy and childish and is constantly miffed by what he feels are personal slights.

Unless campaigns become 100% publicly funded with platforms and resumes posted and published for everyone to have, dozens of debates with pop questions and a variety of moderators, we will have this kind of Propaganda R Us campaigns. Estimates are that $1B (!) is being spend on the Presidential Campaign alone. It's ridiculous.

As bad as Iraq is, IMO, the situation with nuclear proliferation from Pakistan, NK's 6 additional nukes this year, goodness knows what Iran is doing, Bush developing tactical nuclear weapons (and itching to use them), Putin developing mobile missiles, etc is MUCH MUCH WORSE.

As for Israelis/Palestinians, the two parties involved have to fix their problems THEMSELVES. Everyone, IMO, should just get the heck out of the way and let them figure it out...or not. It's hard to believe sometimes that such a tiny population of people on such a tiny sliver of dusty land could create such havoc in the world. They've been at this now for essentially two generations without much progress. Maybe this is the way the participants want it to be...you never know.
