That's an isolationist POV Rich. As much as I'd like to have the US take that approach I can't see how we possibly could.

For better or worse, the US is the world's police force that generally gets some assistance from England. The rest of Europe couldn't defend itself from the Pennsylvania National Guard. Without the protection from rouge regimes & terrorist organizations with regional & global reach, the global economy would be at serious risk. Like it or not, our economy is tied to the global economy. And thanks to 'just say no' libs, we are extremely dependent on foreign sources of oil.

And our problems would not end there if we go the isolationist route. Can you imagine the global impact after a North Korean nuke attack on Japan or South Korea? How about after Iran wipes Israel off the map as their leadership has repeatedly threatened? What would things be like if Al Qaeda began large scale attacks (IE truck bombs & WMD attacks, etc.) on Europe along with regular suicide bombings to destabilize those nations?

Eventually the sovereignty of current mid east & european countries would be at risk. And our own security would soon follow thereafter. And make no mistake about it. Islamic fundamentalists do want to bring us to our knees. Just because our media isn't reporting it doesn't mean they are not openly telling us what they plan to do.
