POINT RICHMOND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 1998--After

by John Lasseter and co-directed by Andrew Stanton.
"A Bug's Life" set premiere box office records in Australia (at

initial results of Babe 2, the sequel to Australia's third highest
grossing film); Thailand ($681,000, topping "Antz" by 80 percent,
surpassing this summer's record set by "Mulan" by 10 percent); and
Argentina, taking in $1,100,000 (improving upon the weekend's figure
by 4 percent and double the debut of "Toy Story").
The box office records continued in Singapore and Malaysia
($658,000), and New Zealand with $243,000 (double the debut of "Toy
Story" and the second best animated showings in those nations behind
"Mulan" and "The Lion King"); and Korea which took in $442,000
(exceeding the previous record holder "Mulan's" debut by 20 percent).
"We are excited by the early international box office success of
'A Bug's Life,'" said Steve Jobs, CEO of Pixar Animation Studios.
"Insects know no national or cultural boundaries, and we hope that 'A
Bug's Life' touches audiences around the globe, as it has here in the
U.S."
Mark Zoradi, President, Buena Vista International, stated "The
success of 'A Bug's Life' underscores the demand for this type of
modern storytelling on an International scale. The folks at Pixar have
created a film that entertains audiences of all ages and cultures.
We're looking forward to more exciting projects from Pixar."
