Malvern, PA -- June 19, 1997 -- IBM selects Quadrant International.
qi.com

"According to the terms of the deal, QI will provide the PC maker with the QI CineMasterTM DVD decoding board via an arrangement with a strategic manufacturing partner. The boards will be installed on the PC maker's premier desktop system. QI-equipped systems are scheduled to begin shipment in mid-June, 1997.... The PC maker that selected QI was IBM."

C-Cube/Quadrant Alliance: "This alliance is supported by the availability of QI's complete manufacturing kit for PCI-base playback boards which are based on C-Cube's recently-announced ZiVA family of DVD decoders."

David, Don't worry. Quadrant International is only one of the PC-DVD board manufacturers. By Fall 1997, IBM products will be flooded with MPACT chips. Expect MPACT announcements soon.

"take the easy route...."
