You won't find it because it's an ad. GTE has taken a full-page ad to enumerate their recent announcements. It reads:
In the last several days, GTE acquired control of BBN Corporation, a leading provider of Internet solutions.
This was the latest in a series of steps all designed to make GTE a national, market-leading, single-source provider of integrated telecom services. In the last month we've also:
- Purchased a national, state-of-the-art fiber-optic network from Qwest Communications.
-Formed a strategic alliance with Cisco Systems, a leader in Internet-related networking services.
-Created a new GTE unit to integrate and promote our new expanded services, both within and outside our current territories.
[In huge type, underlined:] SIGNIFICANTLY.
These recent actions build on our already strong long-distance base and will turn GTE into a nationwide provider of all telecom services, (local, long-distance, wireless, paging, video and internet) and a force in the industry. It will also make us a leader in an area currently experiencing explosive growth: data services. All of which, we believe, will prove a great boon to our customers and stockholders alike.
They say the future belongs to those who prepare for it. They're right.
