UTEK is a good company in a beaten down sector. I like the 20% short interest a great deal. Stocks go down when you have more sellers than buyers and you have to lower the price to entice more sideline people to become buyers and even the equation. The high short interest seems to be bullish to me since they have ALREADY sold their shares or shares they have borrowed. Since you have a small percentage in it, you might pick a few prices to accumulate more IF it goes down more. We might have to be patient on this one, but I do think it has real potential to show spetacular gains from its low levels. 2X in 12 or 24 months? Time frame doesn't really matter much to me since it is so much better than I expect for the overall market or the gains I expect to see from HWP and IBM (Companies I have large positions with and have seem 4x appreciation and still hold as I really like their fundamentals. HWP is turning into a really good consumer Co. and IBM is turning into a really good service Co.). Nice thing about value investing is it makes the time factor less important. You have to wait for a change of sentiment as well as a change in business conditions to get big gains, but the potential is there. Short answer, I'm holding and might buy more if it hits $18 or less and my cost basis is $26 so we are in about the same boat except my shares are in nonretirement dollars. Hope this helps.
