I've made many jokes about shorting the renminbi, but first we'd have to get a grip on its precise relationship to the yuan. I imagine taht matters to some extent. I actually did know this once: had money in a ghastly little company listed in the States called ChinaTek.

Wonder why the divergence between the market and the Indian funds... Presumably one could short the rupee using PHLX custom currency options, but I'm still not entirely sure we're ever gonna figure out how they work.

Now I think I understand why the XAU puts didn't get hit: the gold spot price closed down 4.95 to 283.05--I hadn't checked before putting in the order. This was a pretty big hit, and I suppose the mms decided taht the XAU components would get smashed again today and so why bother to do me a favor?
