I've read repeated reports of this recently. The US response should be to tell them to cut out the crap. If they don't, ah, stronger measures should be taken

And, yes, the same should be done if it were the British royal family.
Although I think they're response would be to either settle it themselves or ask our help in taking care of the thugs.
